Giving Back With Rice Krispies and #TreatsForToys

The holidays are my favourite time of the year—after summer, of course. I love everything about this season: shopping for presents for everyone on my list, writing Christmas cards, wrapping gifts, decorating the house with my family, watching holiday movies, attending and hosting festive parties, and of course, the most important thing of all—giving back, in big and small ways, to those who deserve it the most. The Kellogg's Rice Krispies #TreatsForToys campaign is back, helping kids during the holidays in a great way. In partnership with The Salvation Army, Canadian families are encouraged to create a toy-shaped Rice Krispies treat and submit a photo of it on TreatsForToys.ca , or share on social media with the hashtag #TreatsForToys. For every photo of your Rice Krispies creation you share online, (and it doesn't have to be anything really creative; it is, after all, the thought that counts!) Kellogg's Rice Krispies will donate $20 to The Salvation Army for t...

Hop Into Spring With Kellogg's Rice Krispies (And Win An Easter Basket Full Of Treats!)

Spring is in the air, and Easter is only days away. I'm not an excellent baker, but there a few things I'm great at making for special occasions, like carrot cake with delicious cream cheese icing, and Rice Krispies Squares. I know, I know, even children can make Rice Krispies Squares, but there is an art to making these delicious treats–like making sure you use the right amount of marshmallows and butter to mix with the Rice Krispies. (Otherwise, they'll come out really hard... not that I'm speaking from experience or anything... ahem). This Easter, you can put a spring in your step by visiting Yummy Recipes–Special Occasions section on www.ricekrispies.ca , and the Rice Krispies Canada Pinterest page at pinterest.com/ricekrispiesca/ for treat making inspiration. You can also follow Rice Krispies on Twitter at RiceKrispiesCA and Instagram at RiceKrispies_CA . To make things even sweeter for you this Easter, I'm giving away a basket of delicious goodies from ...

Kid Loved, Parent Approved: A Kellogg's Giveaway For Back To School

September is here, and although it's sad saying goodbye to summer, I'm definitely looking forward to getting back into the routine of fall—and I think the kids are ready, too. With school just days away, it's time to start thinking about quick and healthy breakfast and snack ideas that'll get everyone out the door quickly—and snacks that'll keep the children satisfied throughout the day. Kellogg's is always a great idea in the morning—and Rice Krispies is a cereal I loved as a child, and still do—so do my boys. Kellogg Canada has just come out with some tasty and healthy Nutri-Grain Fruit and Nut Medley Bars that are perfect snacks to eat after school on the way to the dozens of after-school activities. (I save these bars for the kids for after school because they contain nuts. I also make sure to have some in my purse for my hectic days, too, when I'm always on the go.) These bars are packed with real fruits and nuts, and whole grain gluten-free oats, ...

Turning Treats Into Toys

As the holidays approach, I love working with companies who give back to those less fortunate. This holiday season, Kellogg Canada is donating $20 to the Salvation Army for every toy-inspired treat you make and upload to RiceKrispies.ca.  The Salvation Army will be using the donations to buy toys for children in need. It's really simple—and a great way to remind your children about the importance of giving back to others, especially during the holiday season. I had fun making some Rice Krispies treats with my youngest son, even though an artist... I am not. If you want to take part, just create your own "toy" shaped treat—get as creative as you want—and then take a picture of your creation and upload it to RiceKrispies.ca. Rice Krispies will then donate a toy to a child in need. To see what other crafty people are making, and to get some inspiration, check out  #treatsfortoys on Twitter.
