Loukia graduated from Carleton University with a degree in Communications and graduated from Loyalist College in Broadcast Journalism. She worked in television and radio before furthering her communications career in the Federal Government and began a career as a lifestyle blogger and writer in 2007. She is also a mom to two boys, aged 19 and 17. 

Loukia writes for various publications, including Canadian Geographic Travel Magazine and LUXE Magazine Ottawa, with a focus on travel, luxury hotel reviews, and destinations. She's also a contributor on TV and radio, and published a children's book titled Together, Apart: Life during the Coronavirus. Proceeds from the book went to CHEO and Kids Help Phone.
