We were invited to Toronto a couple of months ago to take part in a special science event with Energizer ® at the Ontario Science Centre. Spending the weekend in Toronto is always fun, especially when we get to stay in great hotels like the Renaissance Hotel —from our stay at this lovely hotel, to our time spent learning in the Ontario Science Centre, it was a very memorable weekend. My boys just received a fun personalized package from Energizer so they could conduct even more fun home experiments with the new Energizer ® EcoAdvanced™ battery, Energizer's longest lasting AA high-performance alkaline battery, and the world's first battery made with 4% recycled batteries. (The cool thing is, this battery is a first step in a journey towards a goal of developing batteries made with entirely recycled materials—hoping to reach 40% by 2025!) Once you become a parent, some things become absolutely essential to have in the home. Locks that work on bathroom and bedroom doors, erasable markers, waterproof mascara, and batteries. If you've got kids in the house, you need a constant supply of batteries. For toys. For wii controllers. For Nerf guns. For the TV remote. And especially for Christmas Day. I was recently invited to Toronto (thanks to Energizer )   with my family for the weekend. (A special thank you to the beautiful Renaissance Hotel for taking such good care of us and for the warm welcome. The children especially loved the large indoor pool, and I loved the downtown location—we were literally next to the CN Tower!) If I were to write a book about parenthood, it would be filled with wise advice I'd want to share about how quickly life change as soon as you become a parent. We may think we have all the answers, but really, nothing can truly prepare you for all that comes with parenthood. With this book, I would include a pack of batteries, and a bottle of wine—two essential items you should always have at home once you're a mom or dad! Believe it or not, batteries are absolutely essential to have in the home. (So is wine, of course.) We all know we should have working flashlights at home for emergencies, but those flashlights won't be any good if you don't have batteries to put in them. Since I'm always in the grocery store buying food for my family, I always remember to pick up new batteries when I'm there.
