A New Year With Netflix

As the year comes to an end, there is so much to look forward to in the new year.  To keep things lighthearted—we've all had enough bad news with all the things going on in the world—let's talk about ways we can kick back and ring in the new year with pleasure, laughs, and excitement. Yes, I'm talking about taking the time for yourself to unwind in front of your television, and watch the new shows and movies Netflix will be showcasing this January. Here are some of the movies and shows I'm excited to watch on Netflix, while I anxiously await another seasons of House of Cards and Strangers Things: Movies: American Sniper: I still haven't seen American Sniper so I know what I'll be watching this in January. This movie, starring Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller, and Luke Grimes, is about U.S. Navy Seal marksman Chris Kyle and his chilling story. American Beauty: A classic, and a movie I love watching again and again. You can't go wrong watching anything ...

Netflix And Chill With Your Favourite Pairings

I have to admit,—I never watch TV. Unless it's for sports, or the news. The only time you'll catch me getting comfortable in front of my television is when I'm watching a show I love on Netflix. (That goes for my entire family, actually). I'm all about binge-watching, and have been known to watch episode after episode of House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Stranger Things and Breaking Bad well into the wee hours of the morning. After all, it's impossible to stop after just one... or two... or three episodes, isn't it? Here's an interesting fact about Netflix: TV and movies go better together, and after viewers finish watching a series, they'll will take a pause (usually this lasts for three days, but for it took months before I watched anything after Breaking Bad, convinced I'd never see anything as amazing again!). During the "break", more than half of Netflix members watched a movie to keep the binge feeling alive. (Yes, for rea...

Netflix Fun For Kids

Parenting is always an adventure, no matter how old the children are, and even every day activities—like a visit to the grocery store—can lead to unexpected adventures. (Like the time I walked out of the grocery store with my children only to notice my car was being driven away by a stranger!) No matter what, though, we make the best of any crazy situation. Whether we're on vacation or spending a quiet night at home watching shows on Netflix, we're having fun together making new memories. Now that my boys are older, there are more movies and television shows we can enjoy watching together, including movies that I remember loving when I was a child, like Annie and The Gooni es. I was excited to see that The Goonies is playing on Netflix right now—and so were my boys, because of course, they love this movie as much as you'd expect they would. It's a classic, after all. My boys also love How to Train Your Dragon, and they are looking forward to watching the all-new...

Netflix Must-Watch Throwbacks

Saturday mornings were all about cartoons for me when I was growing up. Actually, that's not true—I spent most Saturday mornings at Greek School, not watching all the great cartoons my friends got to stay home to watch. Life was so unfair! My boys aren't in Greek School on Saturday mornings and not because I want them to stay home to watch cartoons—but because I like teaching them Greek on my own. Even if they were in Greek school on Saturday mornings, they wouldn't have to miss their favourite shows, thanks to Netflix. Netflix is always a family favourite, for movie nights, for Saturday morning cartoons, and for all the shows I love to watch when my kids are asleep, like Orange Is The New Black or House Of Cards. Now my boys can watch some of my childhood favourites like Garfield, Scooby-Doo, and The Smurfs. Even more fun now is that I get to watch with them. It is always awesome to connect on different levels with my boys, and watching some of my favourite shows fro...

Tell Me Lies, Tell Me Sweet Little Lies

Admit it... you lie. You probably lie every day and forgive yourself for it, because sometimes, well, you just gotta lie. I'm not talking about big, bad lies—more the little lies that don't really hurt anyone. Sometimes you might be stretching the truth a little, and that's okay. We are all guilty of this. Like telling your friend she looks perfect in that dress. Or coming up with a wild excuse for why you weren't able to attend the school council meeting. (Yawn.) And, of course, the little white lies we tell our children. Being the mom of two young and curious boys, I've lied before... like hiding the chocolate so I can enjoy it myself after the kids have gone to bed (" Sorry boys, there is no chocolate in the house!" ) or convincing myself I better eat the last cookie, because if there are no cookies in the house, my boys will eat something healthy. I've lied to my boys and told them the stores were closed  because I didn't r...

It's All Science To Me

March break is almost over, and spring has arrived—but the weather does not yet match the season, as we're dealing with a lot of snow, and cold temperatures, still. No matter, though. Spring is here, and before we know it, we'll be sitting outside enjoying the weather we've been craving since January. For now? We spend some time outside, but enjoy coming back inside to warm up, and watch some of our favourite shows on Netflix . (Let me just take a moment here to thank Netflix Canada for this great package I received last month to welcome me back to the Netflix Stream Team for year two—I'm happy to be part of this great partnership again!) Anyway, my boys? They love watching anything that teaches them something new. It's all about educational shows for my science-loving boys, and right now, Netflix is featuring movies and shows that are exactly what my boys love to watch, including Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey. This is such an interesting, inspiring, sh...

Welcome Back, House Of Cards.

Are you ready? I'm ready. I think. Do you remember how season two of House of Cards left us? I do. *shudder* House of Cards returns today on Netflix. Based on how things ended, we can expect another exciting season, especially since Frank is now the POTUS. And what's in store for Claire? Well, you've got to watch to find out! I'm excited (and nervous!) to welcome Frank Underwood back in my life. Claire, not so much, because I'm terrified of her. (Even though she has a great wardrobe.) I get obsessed with great television shows—like the best show of all— Breaking Bad . I think I watched all five season in less than three weeks. I'm pretty sure I'll be finished House of Cards before the weekend is over. For the last couple of years, I haven't watched anything on TV unless it's been on Netflix Canada,  because I'm never left disappointed.  I can watch Orange Is The New Black , catch up on Mad Men , watch Breaking Bad again and a...

Year Two With Netflix Canada #StreamTeam

This is my second year blogging for Netflix Canada, as part of the Netflix #StreamTeam. It's an honour to blog for Netflix, and so much fun, especially because I truly love Netflix—as does my family! The thing I love the most about Netflix Canada is that there is always something new to watch, something I know I'll love. This month, The Adventures of Puss in Boots arrived on Netflix, and my kids are super excited to watch this great series. It's a Netflix original, too, so you just know it's going to be great. (This just got me excited for the new season of House of Cards!) (Thank you, Netflix!) Anyway, kids will love The Adventures of Puss in Boots , and they'll have fun watching Puss as he embarks on exciting adventures. This show is as exciting as the beloved children's book. "The world's greatest fighter, lover, and milk connoisseur springs into action with comical tales that take him to exotic locations, filled with unforgettable characte...
