Celebrate Love With Local Valentine's Gifts

How are you spending Valentine's Day? No matter what you do, it'll be perfect as long as it's with the ones you love. My favourite Valentine's Day includes a night either out with my husband, or staying in with our boys. Quality family time is always the best gift to give and receive, but there are also some great ideas that are sure to be a hit.

Here are my suggestions for some great Valentine's Day gifts to give, from stores found right here in Ottawa, like Schad on Sussex for the perfect sweater, t-shirt, or jewellery, donuts from Ottawa's best donut shop, Maverick's Donuts, or candles, books, and reading socks from Indigo. Another great idea is a gorgeous bloom box of roses from Luxe Blooms.

I also love giving the gift of art, and an original painting from local artist Katerina Mertikas is a wonderful idea. How about an at-home spa basket with a gift card for a massage from Innes Massage Therapy, or a cordless curling iron for an upcoming sunny vacay? Throw in some Le Chateau accessories and Purdys chocolates, and you're sure to make someone very happy! For the kids, I love giving Lush products, because bath bombs are a super fun gift to give.

Here's my CTV Ottawa segment with all the details on what to buy for Valentine's Day! Shop local–and Canadian–and share the love.

Happy love day, friends!

Summer Of Colour: Top Gardening Trends With #PCGarden And A Gardening Giveaway

I admit it... I don't have much of a green thumb, but I love beautiful gardens and flowers in the summer. Whether it's at my place, my in-law's, or my parent's home, I appreciate pretty flowers and a lovely garden, and so do my children. Now that the first long weekend of summer is behind us, we're totally in summer mode. I was even motivated to get my garden ready. However you're imagining your outdoor living space, I'm sure it involves some greenery, plants, vegetables, and flowers, right? It just makes everything look and smell so much prettier! President's Choice has excellent Garden Centres so you can pick up all all you need in one place. And  they make it easy for you, too, because they'll be able to answer your questions, and they already have in store what you're looking for, from the latest trends (think bright, happy colours with dazzling shades and hues) to the gardening tools. This year, I wanted to bring more colour into my h

Mommy and Me Monday!

Why do weekends go by so fast? Monday is here yet again - and it's always a bit of a bittersweet day for me. On one hand, I love getting dressed up and going to work, going to the gym during the lunch hour, shopping, or lunching with friends -but at the same time, I miss my boys terribly when I go to work! Nothing is as sweet to me as weekends with my boys. Waking up together, taking our time to get dressed, and doing whatever we want. Yesterday, we went to the sugar bush and it was amazing - the kids had the greatest time, and I was even able to get in a picture with them! The truly amazing thing is that we're all looking at the camera and smiling! You all know this is not something that comes easy with children, right? Now I'll be able to look at their little smiley faces all day long... Hosted by the lovely Krystyn for Mommy and Me Monday!

Old School Blogging

A couple of nights ago, I was thinking about how much I miss Old School Blogging. You know? From a few years ago, when things were just... blogs, and nothing more? Just our stories, written from our hearts, here for the world, for our little community, to read? When we had more time, it seems, to sit down and read posts from start to finish, when we were able to comment without problems because we weren't doing it from our iPhones, and when we didn't "favourite" every post we wanted to eventually get around to reading... (because we don't always get back to those posts, do we?) I started blogging in 2007, which to some of you is still not even that Old School , but to me, it's well... old enough. My first born son, now in grade one, was only 18 months old when I started this little blog. This little blog has been very good to me, for so many reasons, mainly because of the friendships I've formed, and the opportunties I've experienced. I'm ver
