Old School Blogging: Pop Culture

A lot has changed in the blogging world over the last couple of years. Certainly a lot has changed for the better, but I sometimes miss the days when we used our blogs as a bigger platform than Twitter. Remember blogging, back in 2009? Although Twitter has been amazing for me and my blog as a business, I still miss old school blogging.

I'm happy to join in with my friend Elaine this week to host another Old School Blogging meme. I'd love it if you joined in, too. Let's kick it old school, shall we?

And let's talk about one of my favourite things: entertainment!

After all, I love movies. A lot. And TV shows, too.

1. What was one of your favourite shows as a kid? Why?

I can't pick just one! My favourite television shows when I was a kid were The Facts Of Life, Who's The Boss, Growing Pains, and my two all-time favourites, The Cosby Show, and The Wonder Years. (Which I just discovered on Netflix, so now I'm watching it all over again!)  I loved The Cosby Show because Bill Cosby reminds me of my dad. I love The Wonder Years because it was so real. The writing was amazing, and it reminds me of days gone by. It makes me totally emotional, too. I am such an old soul.

2. Which actress(es) do you see on the red carpet and kinda wish you could be for a day (or three)?

I really love Kate Hudson. I think she is an absolutely positive, gorgeous, glowing actress, and she makes being a mom look so effortless. I think she has great style, too. She always looks incredible!

3. Which actor do you wish you could hang out with?

I love Kevin Spacey. He is one of my favourite actors of all time. I just saw The Usual Suspects again a few weeks ago, and it reminded me how much I love him. Johnny Depp is pretty fantastic in everything he's in, too. And Robert De Niro.

4. What is one (or two or some) of your favorite movies that you have seen in the last few years?

I don't watch as many new movies as I'd like to because life is so hectic right now, but I loved Les Miserables, Argo, Pitch Perfect, and um.. Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Dog Days. Yes, really. (Mom of two boys, remember?)

5. Who is one celebrity out there now that you could totally do without? That you wish would just disappear?

I don't even want to say her name, but her initials are L.L. And she's annoying. But so is the media, for their inability to stop talking about her.

6. Have you ever met a celebrity? If so, who? What did you say/do when you met them?

I met Mario Lopez at a private BlogHer party in 2011 in San Diego! Come on, that totally counts, because I loved Saved By The Bell.  I met Clint Eastwood and Rene Russo when they were filming In The Line Of Fire in Washington, D.C. I think I managed to say one or two words to them. And I met Pharrell in Bal Harbour, Florida, shopping in Louis Vuitton. He was very nice and obviously has great taste!

7. What shows do you look foward to watching every week?

I love (love, love) Mad Men. I finally sat down to watch it last year, and I think I watched season one through five in under a week. I was instantly addicted (and, okay, maybe a little obsessed) and now I get very excited for Sunday nights. Homeland is my other favourite show and does crazy things to my heart rate and stress levels. But it's worth it, because it's an incredible show.

What about you? I'd love to hear your answers! Isn't old school blogging fun?

Okay, I cannot figure out who L.L. is, I'm a dork.

Also, I forgout about Who's The Boss!!! I LOVED that show! So many good ones to remember. I also adored The Wonder Years. I'll always remember the episode where he got a big zit before he was going to meet up with this girl and then it turned out she had one too... hee hee!

Anyway, thanks for co-hosting with me, L! You're the best! xo

Yes! So much fun! You're right, blogging has changed, in so many ways. I miss the old days sometimes too... LOVED Wonder Years. Didn't know it was on Netflix. Going to introduce it to my son and try not to bawl my head off. ;)

Speaking of Mario Lopez...but kids just started watching SAved By The Bell. It's amazing to watch now, if only just for Zach Morris' giant cell phone and the really, really high-waisted jeans.

Wonder Years was great - I have always had the biggest crush on Winnie Cooper!

I met Mario Lopez in Carlsbad Caverns when I was about 10. No clue what he was filming down there, but he was there and somewhere there is a photo of my step-sister and I with him. He was super sweet.

My blog is gone, so I'll do this here.

1. I loved Saved by the Bell. Also Who's the Boss, Cosby Show. Mickey Mouse Club. Oh and 90210. I was 9 or 10 when it started and my step-sister loved it, so of course I did too. heh.

2. Hmmm no clue. I don't watch awards shows. Uh I'll go with Jennifer Garner. Just because she seems so dang normal.

3. Jennifer Garner. Same reason as above. No clue who else though. I guess I've never thought about it. (No joke. I grew up in Los Angeles. I'm immune to caring I think.)

4. Pitch Perfect. The Avengers?? I don't see many movies that my children haven't chosen.

5. Gwyneth Paltrow. I wish she'd fall off the planet.

6. As I said, I'm from LA so I'll give you three and just know I've met more than I could name...met Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russel (and all of their kids) because my brother played ice hockey with Kurt's son for a few seasons. Even Goldie Hawn looks like crap at 5am in an ice rink. Heh. I lived next door to John Lithgow for years and years. I met all of the cast of 90210 except Shannon when they filmed an episode at our ice rink.

7. Criminal Minds. Two Broke Girls. Rizzoli & Isles when it's on. (Besides that I'm WAY behind on TV. I have 86 hours saved on my DVR right now.)
Oh, yes, the Wonder Years! Loved that show. And Saved By the Bell, FOR SURE.

I love Robert DeNiro. He was such a hottie in the Godfather II. And YES on Mad Men. We don't have cable so we're having to pay to download them on Amazon instead of waiting like a year for season 6 to come to Netflix!

Hi there. I'm here from the linky and just realized that the linky is closed when I tried to link up my post! Reading this made me remember a lot of the shows I watched when I was a little older... I used to love The Cosby Show!
