A present just for you!

Updated to add: Congratulations to number 14, Brittany (Mommy Words!) You won the goat, yay!

When I received an email with "This holiday season, give the gift of a goat or manure" in the subject line, I was intrigued. And since I was all out of unique gift ideas, I kept reading. Oxfam American has offered to give one of my readers the gift of a goat this holiday season!

Oxfam America, part of Oxfam International, is a relief and development organization that helps alleviate hunger, povery and injustice in more than 90 countries. Oxfam creates partnerships and rather than providing short-term aid, works with local communities to create lasting solutions to poverty by helping people address the root cause themselves.

There are many ways you can help Oxfam this holiday season. I was blown away when I clicked through the list of gifts you can give. For instance, you can buy a pair of sheep for $90, a cow for $75, a water purifer for $35 or a vegetable garden for $30. A school meal program for one child is only $25. You can also buy books, blankets, art supplies, medical kits, and so much more.

Once you buy your gift, a card is mailed to whomever you want the gift to be from, and the gift goes to where it is needed the most.

During the holidays, I like to do as much as I can to help others, from organizing events at work supporting the Children's Aid Society, to donating old snowsuits to the snowsuit fund. This year, I'm also giving gifts from Oxfam America Unwrapped to several people on my shopping list. There is nothing more satisfying that giving someone a gift that will do so much good somewhere else in the world.

I am excited to be working with Oxfam America this holiday season.

If you would like to win a goat from Oxfam America, just leave me a comment telling me how you try to spread cheer and goodwill during the holidays.

If you win the goat, you will receive a card from Oxfam notifying you that a goat was donated in your name. You can also choose to give away the goat to someone else, too. I normally post all my giveaways on my review blog, but a goat is a pretty big deal!

I'll pick a winner randomly on December 3rd.

Good Luck!

What if I want to eat the goat myself? Can I do that? There's a lot of food you can make from a goat. Goat scampi, goat jerky, goat ravioli, goat meatloaf, fried goat, goat goulash, spaghetti and goatballs . . . .

What a great giveaway. I rarely enter these things, but this time, I must. I'd love to give this to my bro who's done a lot of work in the muddle east and appreciates how much good this will do.

As far as my good deed goes, my kids cleared out and donated their old toys last weekend.

Oxfam is a great charity. I'm hosting a gingerbread decorating party for some kids... and what else? And I'll donate to a couple of charities. And I'll be cheery? Does that count? :)

Oxfam is such an incredible organization- whenever I visit my Mum in the UK, I visit their flagship store! The holidays is all about giving back so I try to volunteer as much as possible and this season I'm starting as a boutique manager at Dress for Success Ottawa!

This is a fantastic idea! How do I and my family spread the Christmas spirit - we sing. I sang in a Christmas concert last night and hope to go out caroling with our local church.

Are you kidding me, a goat?! This is a great giveaway! This is the first I've ever heard of Oxfam. My dad is a pastor and a law enforcement officer, so I was raised with an awareness of how much help the community needs. My family is majorly involved in community service and outreach. I've been lucky enough to be able to go to Guatemala on a missions trip. I always donate shoeboxes of goodies for Operation Christmas Child every year. Unfortunately I'm usually only able to help on a local level rather than a global one. But this would be a great opportunity to do so!
Love the goat giveaway! We typically adopt children/families & donate the gifts to charity.

Avitable is a great guy who rocks a hat but i must admit i do not want him to win the goat.
Oxfam do good work. our giving this year hasn't yet been decided - hell, our entire holiday season hasn't really yet been thought about, ACK - but i can get behind a goat no matter what.

Love the goat giveaway! Each xmas my daughter gets $100 to donate to a charity of her choice (we try to do at least 1/2 for a local charity). Now since she's only 2.5, we decide for her right now. It's a holiday (and birthday) tradition we started when she was born, and I'm looking forward to the choices she makes as she gets older.
My sister and I have gone through them before! Great cause!
We love oxfam and similar to oxfam every year we give all our business gifts through Heiffer International. Pigs, Goats, Cows, Chikcens. We love it! Thanks for helping spread the word!
What a unique idea. We "adopted" an angel from the angel tree, and try to be as generous as possible.

I love goats. Especially in curry.

Oxfam is awesome - we give to a similar organization - Heifer. They're rad too!

I forgot to add how I helped someone this year. I just wrote a post on it.
The other day 2 kids came to my door selling pine cones. My heart sank when they told me their father was hiding out in the truck down the street. After I cried my eyes out, I approached him with a helping hand.

This is such a great idea, I wish more people appreciated gifts like this! I try to help out a little by donating toys to toy drives and food to food banks.
